Anello Sant’Antonio

Si snoda tra castagni, larici, abeti e pini e nel primo tratto arriva il località “Castello della Pertica”. E’ ancora possibile vedere i fori nella roccia che accoglievano i pali delle antiche capanne o la sagoma di un cervo scolpito. Si percorre quindi la vecchia strada che collegava Abbadia S.S. a Piancastagnaio sino a giungere ai vecchi podere di S.Antonio e della Cipriana. Entrambi i poderi sono situati intorno ai 1000 slm ed erano abitati fino agli anni’50. Gli abitanti vivevano di allevamento e coltivazione di segale. Il sentiero poi discende fino ad Abbadia S.S. collegandosi nella parte finale agli altri sentieri in zona polveriera.

The trail winds its way through chestnuts, larches, conifers and pines. In the first section it arrives at Castello della Pertica, it is still possible to see the holes in the rock that accommodated the pilasters of the ancient huts, and the form of a sculpted deer.
Continuing on, the old dirt road connects Abbadia S.S. to Piancastagnaio, arriving at the old farms of S.Antonio and Cipriana; are located around 1000 metres above sea level and were inhabited up until the 1950s. The inhabitants made their living breeding livestock and growing rye – the only cultivation suitable for this altitude and the climate of Amiata. The trail then descends to Abbadia S.S. connecting to the end of the other paths in the powder magazine area.
