Montalcino

Known as the town of Brunello, this small but quaint village on the outskirts of Val d’Orcia is the ideal destination for good wine lovers.

Montalcino is placed on a hill on the slopes of Mount Amiata, probably already inhabited during Etruscan times. This favorable position in relation to its surroundings, offers a privileged point of view on the famous Val D’Orcia.

In addition to the hamlet, most of Montalcino hosts cultivated crops of vineyards where important companies are dedicated to the cultivation of the famous Brunello di Montalcino.

Trips to Montalcino usually include a visit to the picturesque old town, charachterized by narrow streets, wine taverns and the Fortress built around 1300, plus the visit to the fascinating Abbey of Sant’Antimo, once the owner of the land on which Montalcino was built.

To have a well-rounded experience of the surroundings, we propose to end your trip with a visit to one of the local companies to take part in a tasting of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
