This is a journey leading to the tuff area of Monte Amiata, the Sacred Mountain of the Etruscans, along its gentle slopes you will be seeking the evidence that the ancient Etruscan people left behind in this land.
We recommend you travel this precious corner of Tuscany on an e-bike: thanks to the pedal assistance you can live this experience at its best and, without too much effort, enjoy charming landscapes and panoramas: from the summit of Monte Amiata to its slopes, from the Fiora and Albegna valleys to the impressive Vie Cave and the Etruscan Tombs dug inside tuff.
A path full of history and mystery, perfect for those who love outdoor activities and nature.
Day 1 – The Holy Mountain
Arrival to the hotel and settling into the room.
Following a bit of rest and a welcoming cocktail, you will be led to pick up the bikes and you will receive a brief explanation on how to work them.
After that, you will go back to the hotel to enjoy a dinner made with typical products and wines.
Day 2 – Vie Cave and Etruscan Tombs
Departure in the morning by bike from the hotel to the tuff area: a scenery that remained untouched and that is characterized by the volcanic rock dating back from the era when the mountain was still an active volcano.
Arrival in Sorano, and visit of the little town with typical lunch.
After lunch, departure to Pitigliano and then Sovana through the fascinating etruscan streets carved into the tuff banks, the so called Vie Cave. Wether they were ceremonial paths or simple pathways is unknown up to these days, but that’s exactly what makes them so much more fascinating and intriguing.
In Sovana, visit of the village and the Archaeological Park and its Tomba Ildebranda.
Following the visit, back to the Hotel by taxi/bus and dinner.
Day 3 – Amiata’s hot springs – Etruscan hot spring
E-bike day trip from the Amiata mountain to Saturnia, through wide and spectacular sceneries onlooking the Flora and Albegna valleys, once essential comunication intersections between the territories of Vulci, Amiata and Chiusi; various types of landscapes will accompany you in your journey, from woods to the Flora valley ,which offers a panoramic view of both Amiata and the countryside up to the northern part of the Lazio region, including the valley of the river Albegna, from where on clear sky days you can see the Argentario promontory and the Giglio island. To top it off you can also enjoy the typical Maremma view with its olive trees, vineyards and cereal cultivated fields.
Visit of the city at the arrival: the town of Saturnia was situated at the crossing between notorious etruscan roads, and it was just a modest settlement until the VIth B.C., when its influence became more prominent because of its strategic position between the main etruscan cities of Vulci and Chiusi.
After sightseeeing you will head to lunch, and then to take a bath into the sulphurous hot springs of the area.
Return to the Hotel by taxi/bus and then dinner.
